Do you remember "Choose Your Own Adventure" books? The ones where you decide what the character is going to do at the end of every page and follow the instructions to the next storyline? I loved being an active part in deciding the fate of my character.
Nowadays, having put some years behind me, I feel a bit more anxious about which page I should turn to. Do I stay or do I go? Do I retreat or do I fight?
Do I even really have a choice? Or is it really up to someone else? Surely, like the adventure books, I do not have an unlimited supply of outcomes. I have a choice between a successful life or an utter and complete failure.
I'm not feeling very confident the odds are in my favor one way or another.
Back to square one.
